A guide to churches and graveyards in Surrey for family historians

Historic Surrey stretched from the River Thames in the north to Haselmere, Charlwood and Lowfield Heath in the south and from Penge in the east to Farnham in the west. With the creation of the London County Council in 1889 the northern parishes of Historic Surrey became part of the London County Council area. Further parishes were absorbed into Greater London in 1965, and Lowfield Heath was transferred to Sussex in 1974 (it's inside Gatwick Airport).

East Surrey District the former districts of Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge		West Surrey District the former districts of Guildford, Runnymede, Surrey Heath, Waverley and Woking.
These districts were formerly in Surrey.
LB Croydon Including: Croydon, Coulsdon, New Addington, Norbury, Purley, South Norwood, and Selsdon, and Thornton Heath.	LB Kingston upon Thames Including: Kingston upon Thames, Chessington, Malden Rushett, New Malden, Surbiton and Tolworth.	LB Lambeth Including: Vauxhall, Lambeth, Gipsy Hill, Streatham, West Dulwich, West Norwood, Brixton, Clapham, Herne Hill, Stockwell, Tulse Hill and Kennington.	LB Merton Including: Mitcham, Morden, Wimbledon, Colliers Wood and Raynes Park.
LB Richmond Including: Barnes, East Sheen, Mortlake, Kew and Richmond. Those parts of the borough north of the River Thames are out of scope.	LB Southwark Including: Bermondsey, Camberwell, Newington, Rotherhithe and Southwark.	LB Sutton Including: Beddington, Carshalton, Cheam, Sutton and Wallington.	LB Wandsworth Including: Balham, Battersea, Earlsfield, Putney, Southfields, Tooting and Wandsworth
LB Bromley former Chapelry of Penge	LB Lewisham former Manor of Hatcham	Lowfield Heath formerly Surrey until 1974 now Crawley, Sussex
