There are over 650 names from Cranleigh in the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index. They were collected by Robert Mesley in 2003 from a collection lodged with the Cranleigh History Society

It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Holmbury St Mary in 1878. There are also a civic cemetery and Baptist, Roman Catholic and Methodist churches in Cranleigh, there was also an Evangelical Free church and a Plymouth Brethren Meeting house both of which have now closed. West Surrey Family History Society CD10(Surrey Burial Index) has burial records for Cranleigh St Nicholas from 1609-1900. WSFHS CD33(Ancient Parishes in the Hambledon district) has baptismal records for Cranleigh St Nicholas from 1566-67 and 1608-1840; Marriages 1609-1837; and, Burials 1609-1840/ See the WSFHS sales page for more information (opens in a new page). Cranleigh is a (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas. Not all areas have parish or town councils. [NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government] in the West Surrey district (from April 2027) of Surrey.
