The Roman Catholic church of the St. John the Evangelist opened ca. 1966. Mass had originally been celebrated in Tadworrth Court, residence of the Baron Russells. The family moved and from around 1914 mass was celebrated in the private chapel of St. Charles Borromeo in Walton on the Hill.

Around 1953 the Borromeo chapel became a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend. to Epsom St. Joseph. From early 1958 mass was celebrated in Kings Lodge on the present site. Around 1960 Tadworth became as separate ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or the Roman Catholic Church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England. Building work finally began in January 1965.
