The building was originally a barrack room or similar in Horsham and was moved to Charlwood by 1816, as an Independent Calvinist Chapel. For more information see the History section of the Chapel Trust web site (link below). The Chapel ceased to be used for worship in 2012 and is now owned by a preservation Trust. It was originally known as the Charlwood Union Chapel
