The former Mugswell Mission Hall is around 2miles from the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions church of Chipstead St. Margaret. The Mission Hall seems to have opened ca. 1900 as a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend to St. Margaret's. The hall's use for worship seems to have stopped during the 1960s. The Parish now use the hall as a "village" hall for the hamlet of Mugswell.


The Surrey Index of Names has over 2,000 names for Chipstead.

The church is in the Church of England Diocese of Southwark. The Southwark Diocesan Record Office for churches and parishes in the modern administrative county of Surrey, and those London Boroughs that were in Surrey until 1965, is the Surrey History Centre.

Chipstead is in East Surrey district (from April 2027) of Surrey.
