The Roman Catholic church of the English Martyrs opened in September 1962 and is located in the (Anglican) Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Horley
From around 1922 a travelling Mission served Roman Catholics in the Horley area. In 1929 a chapel was opened in the converted stable of a house of a parishioners. The chapel, dedicated to The English Martyrs, became a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend to Redhill St Joseph and remained so until 1941. Around 1935 a new, bigger, church was built on the site of the original chapel and Horley acquired its first resident priest in 1940. Although ca 1952 the site for the new church was acquired, building work did not begin until the early 1960s. The is no graveyard at English Martys Church.
