The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England
of Ash Vale St. Mary was created in 1972 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Ash St. Peter.
There is no graveyard at Ash St. Mary. However older burials may have taken place at the St. Peter's, the former parish church. The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has around 200 names for Ash. The inscriptions were noted in 1977.

Ash Vale is village in the (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas [NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government] of Ash in the West Surrey district (from April 2027) of Surrey.
